Het is alweer bijna 4 jaar geleden dat de vaste onderhoudsploeg van sportpark Skoatterwâld en het Abe Lenstra Stadion in Heereveen een bezoek bracht aan Barcelona. Het weekend van 12 en 13 januari 2008, om precies te zijn, bezocht het gezelschap o.a. de wedstrijd FC Barcelona – Real Club de Futbol Murcia. Gedurende de wedstrijd waren ze getuigen van de rentree van Ronaldinho, na het herstel van een blessure. De toenmalige trainer van het eerste team van FC Barcelona, Frank Rijkaard, sprak na de wedstrijd met de groep bezoekers uit Friesland. Al met al was het een enerverende ervaring voor het gezelschap.

One of the most famous places to visit in Barcelona is the Sagrada Familia. The full name of this amazing construction is the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia, or if you translate it; the Holy Family Church. It is one of the master pieces of the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, who took over the architectural design and the construction from the also Catalan architect Francisco de Paula Villar y Lozano. The church is not finished till today, partly because the construction of it is financed by public donations.

The interior of the church is finished since November and also open for visitors. The visitors were already able to visit the interior part of the church, but what once was a construction site has now been transformed into a place for the Sunday mass and where everybody can enjoy pieces of the Catalan Modernism. The particular style of Gaudi can be recognised through the junction of nature as an organic part of the architecture. You can see this in all his buildings through the colours he uses, the curved lines instead of straight lines, and small parts that has been elaborated into the finest detail. 

It sure is worth your time for a renewed visit of this beautiful church when you are in Barcelona. Bear in mind that the church counts with a lot of visitors, so it is better to make a reservation.
